
Turkey Stuffing
This classic stuffing, featuring pork sausage and bacon, can be prepared ahead of time for convenience.
Ingredients
Stuffing Base
- 1 1/2 lbs Jimmy Dean’s Pork Sausage original recipe
- 2 loaves White Bread
- 1 lb Bacon
- 1 large Onion
- 1 pt Sour Cream cannot substitute
Instructions
- Fry the pork sausage and remove from the pan. Set the sausage aside (crumble it) and discard the rendered juice.
- Slice the bacon into small 1/4 inch chunks. Fry until crisp. Set the crisp bacon aside and save the drippings.
- Sauté the chopped large onion in the saved bacon drippings until tender.
- Cube the white bread, crusts and all.
- In a big bowl, toss together all the cooked ingredients (sausage, crisp bacon, sautéed onion) and the cubed bread.
- Add the sour cream to the mixture to moisten it.
- Bake the mixture for 20 minutes at 325°F to blend the flavors (if preparing ahead of time).
- Stuff the turkey or other bird when you are ready to bake it.
