
Fried Rice
A classic fried rice recipe, noted as being ‘Great for leftovers’ and ‘A Heavenly Recipe’. The recipe calls for leftover cooked rice and leftover meat.

Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 C cold cooked dry rice Leftover rice works best
- 1/2-1 C leftover meat Pork is traditional, but any meat works
- 1/2 C onions chopped
- 2 T oil Vegetable or peanut oil
- 2 C leftover veggies Such as peas, carrots, or green beans
Sauce Mixture
- 2 T soy sauce
- 1/4 t salt Adjust to taste
- 1/4 t sugar
- 1 t sherry or white wine
Finishing Touches
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Sauté the onion in the oil.
- Add the leftover meat and cook until heated through.
- Add the cold cooked rice and leftover vegetables. Mix well and heat everything through.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, salt, sugar, and wine. Add the sauce mixture to the rice and toss to combine.
- Fold in the beaten egg and turn off the heat just as the egg sets. Serve immediately.
Notes
Using cold, leftover rice is crucial for the best texture. The wine (sherry or white wine) is optional but adds depth of flavor.
