
Butter Spritz Christmas Cookies
A classic, buttery spritz cookie recipe from GG Christensen, perfect for pressing into festive shapes for the holidays and optionally decorating with food coloring or colored sugar.

Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/2 C flour Sift together
- 1/2 tsp salt Sift together
Wet Ingredients
- 1 C butter Softened, Creamed
- 1 1/4 C powdered sugar Creamed
- 2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg Blend in
- 1/2 tsp almond extract Blend in
- 1 tsp vanilla Blend in
Optional Decorations
- a few drops food coloring
- colored sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Sift together the flour and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together.
- Blend in the egg yolks (or whole egg), almond extract, and vanilla.
- Add the dry ingredients (flour and salt mixture) gradually to the creamed mixture.
- Press small amounts of dough into the cookie press.
- Bake at 400°F for 6 to 8 minutes.
- Optionally, add a few drops of food coloring and/or colored sugar before baking.
